Headshot of Nkhanise Phiri

Hi, I'm Nkhanise (kah~nee~seh). I'm an actor, a writer and a Londoner, amongst many other weird and wonderful things.

I've always had a love for performing arts but it was after graduating in 2016 from the University of Warwick with a degree in Psychology that I decided to take a leap and take my passion seriously.

As a writer, my work was selected as part of the Lyric Hammersmith's Development Lab (2017). My debut play Bitchcraft won the Melanin Box Festival's Pandora Award (2018) and was selected to be a part of the Blacktress John Thaw Initiative Season (2018) and a run at the Tristan Bates Theatre (2019). More recently I was selected to be part of the Royal Court Theatre Writer's Group and the Soho Writers Lab as well as recently being shortlisted for Soho/NBC Overheard Commission (2021).

As an actor and performer, I've trained as an actor with the Lyric Hammersmith Ensemble and more recently with the National Youth Theatre's REP company. I have also performed with the Royal Court Theatre and the National Theatre of Scotland.
